Piesowocki and Gliszczynskic
In the Modern Art Gallery (ul. Mennica 8) we present the work of two outstanding painters. Leon Piesowocki and Krzysztof Gliszczyński are different artists – generations and artistic. Through this we will experience different cross-sections and contexts of art. Piesowocki is the last living painter of General Władysław Anders. Here’s an explanation. – Gen. Anders, who founded his corps, adopted, among other things, a group of wandering artists, who see them as the future elite of Poland. Among them was Leon Piesowocki (born 1925), a thoroughly contemporary painter, who boldly and interestingly experimented with different genres of fine arts.
Krzysztof Gliszczyński is a professor at the Gdańsk Academy of Fine Arts. Exhibition Perpetuum pictura in our Gallery of Modern Art is “a series of paintings that refer to the idea of painting and its material cause, which is paint. The works are made in the encaustic technique – the basis is wax, which changes its consistency when heated. It becomes a liquid medium’ – as he wrote himself. If you compare abstract painting with music, in this case we invite you to a very energetic concert.
The works of Leon Piesowocki can be admired until August 28 this year, and Gliszczyński until the end of October.
