Winter break 2022 abroad? Before booking your holiday, check current restrictions – Wprost

Italy, Austria, France and Switzerland are the most popular destinations among Polish tourists who plan to spend their winter holidays on the ski slopes. Whichever direction we choose, in January and February we will encounter many difficulties caused by restrictions.

Winter holidays 2022 in Italy? Yes, but only for vaccinated people

Italy has been the favorite destination of Polish skiers for years. However, this year it is worth considering leaving, as sunny Italy is currently battling a new wave of coronavirus, and 150-200 thousand daily. new infections.

It is because of the raging virus that the Italians have decided to tighten the current regulations. In addition to showing a covid passport, all vaccinated and recovering people will also have to submit a negative COVID-19 test result. This can be an antigen test performed 24 hours before crossing the border into Italy or a PCR test performed 48 hours before crossing the border. In addition, people coming to Italy will have to register in a special system.

It gets even more difficult for unvaccinated and non-recovering people. In addition to the conditions for vaccinated people, they will also have to undergo a five-day quarantine and undergo a test at the end.

There are also a number of restrictions in Italy. In restaurants, sports centers, swimming pools and on the lifts and ski slopes it will be necessary to have the so-called Super Green Pass, ie a covid passport that confirms the vaccination or recovery status. You also need a Super Green Pass when checking in at the hotel. Travelers to Italy should bring the FFP2 masks, which are mandatory in public transport, theaters and cinemas. You should also cover your nose and mouth in the open air. Here, however, a surgical or cloth mask is sufficient.

It is also worth remembering that in Italy the covid passport has a shorter shelf life. From December 15, the period of validity is 9 months after vaccination and from February 1 only 6 months. Taking a booster dose extends the validity of the pass by 9 months.

Austria for winter holidays 2022? The unvaccinated must take into account quarantine

Skiing on the Austrian slopes won’t be the easiest either. Vaccinated persons and convalescents must carry out a PCR test no later than 72 hours before departure to Austria. The test result must be confirmed by a certificate in English or German issued by the testing department. The certificate must contain: first and last name, date of birth, date and time of sample collection, test result – negative / positive and signature and stamp of the tester or barcode / QR code. The test result can also be presented in the form of a medical certificate issued in German or English on the A or B form available on the website of the Polish Embassy in Vienna. Anyone who has received a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine is not required to provide any of the above certificates.

If a vaccinated (or cured) person does not present a COVID-19 test result, they will be quarantined and given only a negative COVID-19 test result. In addition, vaccinated persons who do not provide a test result must register online at least 72 hours before arrival in Austria.

After arriving in Austria, unvaccinated people are placed in a ten-day quarantine. However, the quarantine may end earlier. The test does not contain a negative COVID-19 test result, but it is only possible to perform it on the fifth day after arrival in Austria. In addition, non-vaccinated persons must register their stay electronically.

Only people who meet the “2G” rule – are recovering or have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 – can use catering, hotel, recreational and cultural facilities. The FFP2 mask must be used in public areas.

Switzerland with mandatory COVID-19 testing

All people who plan to travel to Switzerland during the winter holidays must meet two conditions:

  • register via the electronic form
  • Present a negative COVID-19 antigen test result 24 hours before arriving in Switzerland or perform a PCR 72 hours before crossing the Swiss border

Vaccination and recovery status are not exempt from the obligation to test for COVID-19. Unvaccinated or uncured persons will have to repeat the test between day 4 and day 7 of entry and report the result to the competent cantonal health authority.

In Switzerland it is mandatory to cover the nose and mouth indoors, as well as in all other places where it is not possible to keep 1.5 m away. Only vaccinated and recovering people will use the restaurants and bars (if more than 4 months have passed since recovery, negative test results are required). The rest of the people will have to have their meals on the outside terraces. The restrictions in the following cantons may differ from each other.

Is France the perfect destination for the 2022 winter break?

There are many indications that France may be one of the best places to spend a winter vacation. People who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or who are recovering do not need to be tested for COVID-19 before coming to France. However, this obligation rests on those who are not recovering and have not taken the full COVID-19 vaccination.

All tourists who want to use public places, such as restaurants, cafes, shopping malls, cinemas, theaters, museums, theaters, nursing homes, hospitals and airplanes, trains and long-distance buses, must meet additional requirements:

  • people over 65 who have received a single dose of Janssen should receive a booster dose of the vaccine
  • 18- to 64-year-olds who have completed the full course of vaccination before June 17, 2021 must receive a booster dose of the vaccine before January 15, 2022.
  • if you do not meet the above conditions, you must provide a certificate of a negative result of the antigen test or PCR performed up to 24 hours before use

Unvaccinated people who want to use restaurants, cafes, shopping malls, cinemas, theaters, museums, theaters, nursing homes, hospitals and airplanes, trains and long-distance buses must pass a test that is valid for 24 hours.
