For Poland, holidays are increasingly not only a break from work, but also a way to cut themselves off from the outside world. Moreover, the new macroeconomic situation somehow forces us to look for new, alternative forms of leisure – also in rural areas. So we increasingly decide to go on vacation in remote places, away from the crowds and out of reach of the internet. It is worth remembering some rules that will help you reach your holiday destination safely.
An idyllic holiday in the countryside?
Rising accommodation prices in resorts and the need to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city are affecting interest in rural vacations. According to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics, there was a 15.7% increase in the number of overnight stays in agrotourism accommodations with less than 10 beds in 2021. compared to the previous year. Holidaymakers mostly chose farms in Zachodniopomorskie, Pomorskie, Dolnośląskie and Małopolskie Voivodeships. Poles are seduced by the diverse offer of the hosts, the opportunities to spend time in nature and the prices. These, while getting higher and higher every year, are still competitive with the resort’s offerings. You can find accommodation in the countryside from PLN 30.
Although many agriturismo farms are located in well-known tourist destinations, Poles are increasingly opting for offers in quiet, unpopular parts of the country, where the road leads over unmarked forest roads. This can mean network problems, and therefore no navigation connection. It is therefore worth purchasing solutions that also allow you to travel offline, such as AutoMapa navigation. What matters here is the fact that AutoMapa allows you to download full map data to the device’s memory and all search and route map operations can be performed locally on a smartphone or tablet. This is a guarantee of uninterrupted navigation along the indicated route in the absence of connection to the network. Combined with the most up-to-date address database, it makes us a reliable companion for journeys into the unknown.
On foreign routes or those close to the border where the phone receives foreign coverage, the offline mode protects users from unexpected data roaming costs (which range from 60 to 100 PLN for 1 GB internet in countries outside the EU) or the lack of navigation when the foreign network is unstable. This is another reason why it is worth getting a premium navigation with offline functionality before going.
We recommend another technological solution for leisure travel – the AutoCB communicator, which is built into AutoMapa as a walkie-talkie and digital radio module in one. A simplification for groups of holidaymakers spread over several cars is fast communication with one button in the application, both on the private and on the public channel, also outside the network range.
On their own terms, that is, Poles choose campers
Traveling on your own terms, traveling around in a motorhome, is also gaining in popularity. And these are growing every year – according to data from the Central Database of Vehicles and Drivers (CEPiK), in 2018 there were only 518 of them on the Polish market, while the number was 2,191 last year.
However, when you decide to travel by motorhome, you have to take into account a number of important aspects. One is legal parking and campsites, another is restrictions on routes – due to their size, motorhomes are classified as special cars, which can face many restrictions on the road. It is worth planning a route that leads you without surprises and safely. And on top of that.
AutoMapa has a constantly updated base of motorhome campsites developed by the Polish Federation of Camping and Caravanning. For this we recommend the option of advanced route calculation for trucks, based on the parameters of the car. It is enough to enter the dimensions of the vehicle to avoid encountering a bridge that is too low, a bridge with too low a payload or a road that is too narrow on the route. This is an ideal option for those traveling with a motorhome, we will avoid surprises and the ride will be comfortable, smooth and straight to the destination. With or without range! – explains Magda Buchalska, director of brand development at AutoMapa.
When choosing an alternative form of recreation outside of the Internet, it is worth planning the course in advance and taking advantage of the support of technology. Reasonable use of modern online tools and – importantly – offline is comfort, more safety and time savings when traveling to even the most remote areas. After all, holidays are for rest and not for stress.
