a sentimental journey into the past at Plac Zebrań Ludowych

Rockowizna Festival – a traveling festival across Poland will also visit Gdańsk. From June 30 to July 2, the recognized names of Polish guitar playing will appear at Plac Zebrań Ludowych. The performers were Kult, IRA, Róże Europy, Kasia Kowalska, Sztywny Pal Asia and Strachy na Lachy.

Music Festivals in the Tri-City

For three days, Gdańsk will be the capital of Polish rock. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday from top Polish artists of this genre will be performing at Plac Zebrań Ludowych. Many of them have had their heyday long ago, but they still attract loyal fans to the stage.

Rockowizna in Gdańsk on Plac Zebrań Ludowych – who will perform?

The first day will be a one man theater – only the Kult band will appear on stage† But it is also not surprising that the concerts of this gigantic stage consortium last an average of three hours. During them all the greatest hits are heard. Really – there isn’t a single lesser known song here. It’s also worth adding that the band doesn’t take breaks after so many years. They just play. And they play it really well – The cult is still in great shape

Friday will be richer in artists. There will be three – IRA, Stiff Pal of Asia and Roses of Europe† Three legends. In total, more than a hundred years on the scene. The IRA is still struggling to survive, but with varying degrees of success. Despite this, he still maintains the level and Artur Gadowski – despite his much larger size – tries to keep his youthful verve and remind us why this band was so important to Polish rock.

The other two are in fact the essence of 80s Polish guitar music. Because apart from mainstream punk, there was just a little bit of romantic playing† The Stiff Pal of Asia and the Roses of Europe have always balanced on the border of species to attract a wider audience. And today these bands still exist because they were universal. It can be seen at their joint concerts, attended by the generation of about 50-year-olds who want to feel the atmosphere of their youth. It will probably be no different in Gdansk.

The last day is characterized by slightly younger artists, but also experienced, with an established position in the market. Kasia Kowalska, Piotr Cugowski and the band Strachy na Lachy† Kowalska is an artist who has been somewhat forgotten, and yet she was an absolute star in the 90s. Talented, with the ability to create both serious and catchy hits. Endowed with a distinctive voice. I feel that on Saturday at Plac Zebrań Ludowych the audience will sing every word of the following songs in unison

Open’er 2022 – everything you need to know

Rockowizna – Gdańsk is the capital of Polish rock for three days

Piotr Cugowski is already a 21st century performer, but his work is sonically embedded in the past. His name allowed him to spread his wings and become a recognizable artist, but it must be said clearly – this is an absolute talent. Possibly the best rock singer in the country† It is strange that he has not yet achieved this mythical star status, but still remains in the circle of that important, recognized, but still below the dividing line that separates him from the top.

And fears of Lachy. Beloved child of “Grabaż” who gave him the key to a great career that Pidżama Porno could not achieve† Lots of records, lots of hits. Although the form has already worn off a bit, for many it is still a hugely important team. Striking socio-political tones, no games of courtesy.

Rockowizna is an event for fans of Polish rock. Especially the more mature ones. Above all, it is a time travel to the early 1980s and 1990s, when a lot was happening in Poland, the political system was changing and the people were full of hope. This kind of event is an opportunity to return to the years of youth and to feel this rebellion, enthusiasm and energy again.

Tickets for the event are still available. Day tickets start from PLN 109, two-day tickets from PLN 179 and three-day tickets from PLN 249
