Traveling by electric car – where can you find charging stations in Poland?

Most electric cars have a range of 200-300 km. For everyday use, a car that can travel 180 km – 230 km on one charge is sufficient. However, life can be perverse and sometimes you suddenly have to charge an electric car. So where can you find charging stations in Poland and will there be more and more?

People who consider buying a car with an electric motor may initially be discouraged by the price of such a car or the availability of a charging station. But due to the growing awareness of society and the state about ecological issues and climate change, more and more electric cars are becoming available and the number of charging stations is increasing.

It is also worth noting that people who want to buy an electric car can count on a subsidy from the state, which can reduce the original price of the vehicle. Under the “My Electrician” program, natural persons who do not have a business can receive financing in the amount of PLN 18,750. Holders of the Large Family Card can count on even more help, as they will receive a surcharge of PLN 27,000.

The profitability of an electric vehicle is also supported by its low operating costs.

An electric car hardly needs maintenance like a traditional car, where mechanical parts have to be replaced. The electric motor can run from zero speed, eliminating the need for the clutch. An element that can cost a lot in the maintenance of a traditional car. In addition, the electric car does not need to change the engine oil or top up the catalyst fluid.

Another advantage of an electric car is the efficiency of the engine, which is almost 90%, while with an internal combustion engine it is about 33%. What does this mean in practice? Much less energy and fuel losses.

Electric cars may seem to have a short range, but this is one of the myths that has stuck with these vehicles. There are currently models on the market with a range of 300 km and even 400 km. † The growing popularity of this type of car, as well as the development of technology, may affect the fact that electric motors will be constantly developed, which can certainly increase the distance on a single charge.

But what does it mean in practice that the car can travel 180 km, 230 km or 400 km on a single charge? Since the average person who uses the car for everyday things (commuting, taking children to school, shopping, personal matters) drives 50 km per day. So if you run an electrician, you only need to plug it into the charger once or twice a week.

Of course, the driver’s driving style also influences the charging frequency. How often and how hard it accelerates, at what speed you drive. In addition, the use of heating and air conditioning is also affected, as well as various additional functions present in the car, such as GPS, the possibility to charge the phone or connect a smartphone via bluetooth. Moreover, the more energy that is extracted from the car, the smaller the range can be. So much depends on how the vehicle is used.

It is undeniable that more and more electric cars are driving on Polish roads, and more and more drivers are discovering the advantages of this mode of transport. As a result, more and more companies are trying to meet the needs of drivers by offering new charging stations for electric vehicles. One such company is PKN ORLEN, which is developing a network of chargers, which plays a key role in infrastructure in Poland.

PKN ORLEN builds charging stations to complement filling stations on highways, main arteries, ie expressways, voivodship roads and expressways. In addition to strategic locations, Orlen Group is also expanding its offer with chargers that are available in municipal and ultimately municipal centers.

ORLEN Charge – how to charge an electric car?

There will be more stations in Poland where it will be possible to charge an electric car. So how do you do that on any of these points? It’s very simple, you just need:

  1. Install the ORLEN Charge mobile application on your phone from the AppStore or Google Play.
  2. Log in to the application or register a new account.
  3. Find the selected charging station on the map in the application.
  4. Connect the car to the charger.
  5. Select the appropriate socket in the application and click the “Load” button.
  6. Enter your payment card details. It is necessary that the money is collected.
  7. To finish loading, click the “Stop” button in the application. The drive will unlock the plug lock.

In the ORLEN Charge application, while the vehicle is being charged, you can check the current charging status, electricity consumption information, and data on charging power and session duration.

Currently, there are two types of charging stations at Orlen stations:

  • direct current (DC) stations with a power of 50kW and 100kW, the so-called fast – which allow you to charge the car battery in 10 to 40 minutes,
  • alternating current (AC) stations with a power of 22kW – the so-called semi-fast, charging can take several to several hours.

The electric car is not only becoming more popular and accessible, it is also cost effective. However, these are not all advantages. One of the most important is that it is an ecological means of transport. The electrician does not emit harmful substances into the atmosphere while driving.

Another advantage is safety – due to their construction, electric cars are stable and have more grip on the road, and can withstand greater centrifugal forces when cornering. The high torque also allows you to accelerate in a fraction of a second, which is useful, for example, when overtaking safely or avoiding a sudden obstacle on the road.
It is also worth noting that electric cars are characterized by high driving comfort – these vehicles are practically silent. † Just switch to driving mode and go on a journey.

For many people who live in large cities, perhaps the main benefit of having an electric car is free parking, as well as the ability to use bus lanes.
