Holiday in Calabria – on the tip of an Italian shoe
If you are looking for peace and quiet and want to escape the city life, Calabria is the perfect idea. It is located on the tip of an Italian shoe. The advantage of the region is its varied, long coastline and access to the Ionian and Tyrrhenian Seas. The essence of Calabria is its wild and lush nature, which we can admire in the three beautiful national parks of Pollino, Sila and Aspromonte. It should be of interest to climbing enthusiasts and those who love breathtaking views such as waterfalls, lakes and wild beaches.
The symbol of Calabria is the mysterious church on the island – Santa Maria Dell’Isola, which was founded here at least 1000 years ago. The historic building is located on a high hill with an amazing view. There is a beautiful beach under the hill that attracts tourists from all over the world. The sun shines for 320 days in this region – so it’s a good destination at any time of the year. Beautiful sandy beaches, blue water and small climatic towns, with little tourist traffic, make Calabria a perfect place for summer rest.
Apulia – the land of the sea and the hills
Another region worth visiting is Apulia. This is a common destination for Italians who run away from crowded tourist destinations. A popular city is Bari with old colorful buildings and restaurants serving traditional regional dishes. The coast is rich in beautiful and charming beaches – the coastline is 800 km long. Tucked inland are tiny villages, huge olive groves and vineyards – the most common grape variety here is Primitivo di Manduria. Many tourists come here on purpose to follow the Primitivo trail.
Baroque architecture makes the region even more interesting. It is here that the barocco leccese style originated. It is characterized by lavish decorations, full of vegetal elements, as well as figurative and sculptural elements, applied to buildings based on conventional models of the 16th century. When visiting these sites, we can count on many attractions, from beautiful beaches to historic towns, and an added advantage is low prices compared to other popular regions.
Campania that evokes admiration and admiration
If you are a lover of Italian cuisine, you will love the Campania region. These include Pizza Margherita, Mozzarella di Buffala and Limoncello liqueur. The region is known for its warm climate, widespread lemons and ancient vineyards. There is no shortage of beautiful and picturesque beaches and crystal clear sea. Sicily is also known for its delicious cuisine, which is a combination of different cultures that have met on the island.
It is recommended to visit Taormina, a city with many monuments, San Vito Lo Capo and the very popular Palermo, the capital of Sicily. The Italian island hides many intriguing secrets, memories of antiquity and mythological souvenirs. Combining active sightseeing with relaxation is a recipe for a truly enjoyable vacation.
