Where to go on vacation? Top Destinations Departing From Bydgoszczy

Poles crave holidays abroad, the best proof of which is the huge increase in requests from travel agents. This year, travel agencies have prepared a wide range of trips, including departures from Bydgoszcz. Which destinations are most popular among residents of Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, how much do holidays abroad cost and when is the best time to book them?

Interest in holidays abroad is very high, as many of us want to make up for a layover due to the coronavirus pandemic. According to estimates by experts from Wybrzeże.pl, more than 60 percent more Poles will decide to go on holiday with a travel agency this year than a year ago.

The vast majority of them – more than 95 percent. – going on a plane trip. And not only from Warsaw, but also from regional airports, which are becoming increasingly important thanks to the growing network of connections.

According to the nationwide survey carried out at the request of Holidays.pl, almost every second person planning a foreign holiday (45% of respondents) first checks the offer of the airport closest to their place of residence.

– The organizers of the trips are well aware of these preferences, therefore the offer for the summer and winter season includes more departures from regional airports than a year ago. In addition, from many of them we can fly not only to the Mediterranean countries, but also to exotic holidays – says Agata Biernat from Lato.pl.

According to the data of the largest tourist multi-agent in Poland, the most numerous group consists of customers who start their journey from one of the airports of Warsaw (Chopin or Warsaw-Modlin). Together they account for just over 32 percent. Katowice (31%) came second in this regard, followed by Wrocław (11%), Gdańsk (9%) and Poznań (9%).

However, to go on holiday abroad this year, we don’t have to go to Warsaw. Bydgoszcz Airport’s offer also includes connections to the most popular holiday destinations. Among them it is leading Turkish Riviera with seaside resorts such as Side, Kemer and Alanya.

– Last year, every fourth customer of Wybrzeże.pl spent their holidays in Turkey. Everything indicates that this summer will also be one of the summer hits. A major advantage is the abolition of the requirement to have a passport and a visa when entering this country. When we add a phenomenal hotel base, warm sea, wide sandy beaches and good value for money, we have the definition of an ideal holiday – says Agata Biernat.

From the directions served by charter connections from Bydgoszcz, we also fly to Bulgaria tempting with beautiful beaches ideal for family holidays and the warm waters of the Black Sea.

– A holiday in Bulgaria is a good option for people looking for entertainment as well as for families with children. The travel agency’s offer includes a wide range of hotels with an all-inclusive option and attractions for children, as well as smaller facilities – with breakfast or half board – for travelers who mainly focus on sightseeing and enjoying the city, says Agata Biernat.

If we dream of a vacation in other Mediterranean countries or a faraway exotic adventure, we can fly from Bydgoszcz to Warsaw and conquer the world from there. There are connections to the capital six days a week. From the airports of the capital we reach, among others, to Greece, Italy, Spain, the Balkans, to Africa: Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Far Asia and America, including the increasingly popular Dominican Republic and Mexico.

– The growing interest in exotic travel is another trend that has continued since the pandemic. At the time, we flew to distant countries, because for some there were no additional entry requirements. Moreover, we increasingly choose these countries, not only in winter, but also in summer – which is why travel agencies also include them in the holiday offer – explains Agata Biernat.

As the expert adds, a trip with a travel agency does not mean that we have to fly for a week or 14 days. We can choose from many accommodation options, also non-standard, for example for 9 or 11 days. Anyway, such trips lasting just over a week, but less than two weeks, are the second most common choice of vacationers. Every fifth person who books a trip decides to do so.

For a week’s stay in a 5-star hotel in Turkey we pay from about PLN 2700 per person. An all-inclusive holiday in July in Bulgaria costs PLN 2,400 per person. If we choose self-catering, we reserve a 7-day stay in Sunny Beach from 1800 PLN per person.

Higher jet fuel prices or exchange rates are the reasons why travel prices can rise. Therefore, tourist market experts advise: If we want an attractive price and a large selection of offers, do not delay the purchase decision.

– It is true that last minute offers always appear, but we should not count on super discounts in that regard. Last year we already saw a trend to increase prices before departure. In fact, tours bought a week before the start of the trip were more than a thousand zlotys more expensive than the same trips ordered 3-4 weeks earlier – says Agata Biernat.
