Holidays in 2022. Holidays on the Polish coast are more expensive than the Adriatic Sea

  • – Accommodation prices on the Polish coast are higher than in many Mediterranean resorts – notes Paula Kukołowicz. on
  • According to the specialist from the Polish Economic Institute, the higher prices in the Baltic Sea are mainly due to the short tourist season and the geographically small area where tourist traffic is concentrated.
  • Kukołowicz estimates that a week-long stay in a hotel on the Polish coast will cost you 5,000 PLN. – However, if we add about PLN 1000-2000 (depending on the number of people in the family) for commuting, the total cost of rest on the Adriatic will probably be just as high as on the Baltic – he admits

According to an expert on the PIE strategy team, Paula Kukołowicz, it is a common belief that Polish resorts – especially seaside resorts – are more expensive than abroad.

– General accommodation prices on the Polish coast are higher than in many Mediterranean resorts. With the understanding that a lot depends on the quality of the accommodation. You can also find cheap seaside accommodation in Poland in high season – but quite far from the beach and not of a very high standard – she noted.

As she added, the price “hit” of the season are the rental prices of motorhomes and caravans. – On the Hel Peninsula, a weekly trailer rental can cost as much as a good quality hotel – point them out.

Short tourist season and a small area

According to the specialist from the Polish Economic Institute, the higher prices in the Baltic Sea are mainly due to: a short tourist season and a small geographically small area where tourist traffic is concentrated.

She explained.

She added that the second factor, i.e. still, works in parallel great interest of Poles in leisure time on the Polish coast. Because of the small area in which this tourist traffic is concentrated, we are dealing with a high demand, which is not compensated by a large supply – she estimates.

– As a result, high accommodation prices are accepted by consumers who, when they pay more for a night, can at the same time pay less for travel or meals – the expert said.

Quality unmatched for the price

Kukołowicz pointed out that opinions about the high prices on the Polish coast are not only about the price, but above all about the quality that does not correspond to the price.

– According to many Poles, holidays on the Polish coast should be the more accessible and cheaper version of recreation. Instead of going to faraway Croatia or Spain, book your accommodation well in advance, we often choose the simpler option – Polish Seaa shorter and cheaper journey by car or train, bearing in mind that we will not enjoy the view of the Costa Brava, enjoy the taste of Mediterranean food or lie in the sun all day – she noted .

According to the PIE expert, we give up many attractions, unconsciously we also expect a lower cost of the planned rest. † PLN 5,000 for a week’s stay in a hotel on the Polish coast – it seems expensive, if you take into account the uncertain weather, the cold sea and everything that we will not see, but that in our dream we could see Croatia or Spain – she estimated.

– she remarked.
