The largest decrease in the number of farms was recorded in farms with an area of 5 ha to 10 ha of agricultural land (by 14.6%). In the analyzed period, the total number of poultry increased significantly, there was also an increase in the number of cattle and pigs.
In the company structure, the largest group of farms were with an area of 1 to 5 ha of agricultural land (44.0% of the total number of farms) and 5 to 10 ha of UAA (27.2%). The smallest number was registered for the smallest farms with an area of up to 1 ha UAA inclusive (1.5%) and the largest farms of 50 ha UAA and more (1.6%).
The largest decrease in the number of farms compared to 2010 was recorded in farms with an area of 5 ha to 10 ha of agricultural land (by 14.6%), and then in the area group of 10-15 ha UAA (by 10.6% ) and in the group of 1-5 ha UAA (with 10.0%). On the other hand, the number of the largest farms with an area of 50 ha UAA and more increased significantly (by 75.1%). An increase can also be seen in the group of companies with a arable land area of 20-50 ha
(by 9.9%) and in the group of the smallest farms up to and including 1 ha (by 9.2%).
The observed decrease in the number of agricultural holdings, with a slight increase in the area of agricultural land, was reflected in the increase (by 11.8%) in the average area of agricultural land per 1 holding from 8.5 ha in 2010 to 9.5 ha in 2020
Of the farms listed in 2020, the dominant ones were those with only crop production, accounting for 61.9%. Compared to 2010, their share in the total number of companies has increased by 17.5 percentage points. Livestock-only farms accounted for 0.5% (the same as in 2010), while the share of farms with both crop and animal production decreased by 17.5 percentage points. to 37.6%.
In the structure of sown crops, total grains were the dominant crop, the area of which was 900.6 thousand hectares. haha. The share of the total area of cereals in the Voivodeship in the total area of these crops in the country was 12.1%. In 2020, the acreage for rapeseed and kohlrabi cultivation amounted to 56.5 thousand. ha, potatoes – 25.6 thousand. ha, and sugar beets – 19.7 thousand. haha. Vegetables were grown on an area of 21.0 thousand hectares. haha. Compared to 2010, the total sown area for cereals (by 2.4%) and potatoes (by 52.2%) has decreased, while the sown area for sugar beet, rapeseed and rapeseed and field vegetables has increased by 67.7% respectively. , 19.0% and 6.4%.
If we compare the 2020 data with the 2010 data, we see changes in the sowing structure of individual crops. The share of the total area of cereals decreased (by 6.5 percentage points) to 70.0% in the total area of crops and potatoes (by 2.4 percentage points) to 2.0%, while the share of the sugar beet area increased and rapeseed and rape seed (0.5 pp each) to 1.5% and 4.4%, respectively. In the past 10 years, the share of the vegetable land area has not changed and amounted to 1.6%.
According to the results of the General Agricultural Census, the number of basic livestock on farms in 2020 was:
cattle – 1168.2 thous. heads, including cows – 524.1 thousand. pieces,
pigs – 1,496.2 thousand heads, including a sow – 61.2 thousand. pieces,
total poultry – 48 831.7 thous. heads, including laying hens – 9892.1 thous. pieces.
Compared to the results of the 2010 census, there was a significant increase in total poultry – by 74.1%. The number of cattle and pigs also increased by 10.4% and 4.0% respectively.
The results of PSR 2020 showed that farms in Mazowieckie Voivodeship maintained 18.5% of domestic livestock and 21.6% of domestic poultry, ranking first in both cases. In contrast, the voivodeship’s share of the domestic pig population was 13.4%; second in the country after the province of Wielkopolskie.
In 2020, the livestock density per 100 ha of arable land was as follows: for cattle – 59 head, for pigs – 75 head and for poultry – 2,460 head. Compared to 2010, this indicator was higher, respectively: for cattle with 5 heads, for pigs with 1 head and for poultry with 1017 heads.
On average, the livestock per 100 ha of arable land in the country was 42 units in 2020 and was 17 units lower than that in Mazowieckie Voivodeship. For pigs, the indicator discussed for the country was 75 heads (the same as in the Voivodeship), while for poultry 1,511 heads, ie 949 heads less.
According to the results of the 2020 agricultural census, there were 230.5 thousand. tractors, ie by 9.3% more than in 2010. With the continued predominance of cereals in the structure of the sown area and the simultaneous increase in the cultivation area of rapeseed and rapeseed in 2020, there were 20.0 thousand. combines, ie by 15.9% more than in 2010. Despite a large increase in the area of sugar beet cultivation and at the same time a large decrease in the area of potatoes, a decrease in the number of combines for harvesting these crops was registered, respectively
with 70.1% and 32.1%. The number of forage harvesters also fell markedly – by 62.7%.
In 2020, there were an average of 1.1 trekkers per 1 farm, compared to 0.9 in 2010. Nationally, as in 2010, the largest number of trekkers was in Mazowieckie Voivodeship, in 2020 their share was 15.9% and increased by 1.0 percentage point. compared to 2010
In the period from June 2, 2019 to June 1, 2020, including 207.3 thousand of the households with an agricultural user obtained income from agricultural activities. Compared to 2010, there were 21.2 thousand, or 9.3% fewer companies. Income from contract work amounted to 91.2 thousand. households, and from non-agricultural activities – 28.5 thous. agricultural holdings, ie lower than the reported income in 2010 at 12.3% and 34.0% respectively. Old-age and disability pensions as a source of income amounted to 50.2 thousand. households with an agricultural user, ie by 1.5% more than in 2010, while the number of households deriving income from other unearned sources of income for 10 years has increased 2.5 times – to 32.4 thousand.
Agricultural activity was the main source of income, ie a source of income exceeding 50% of total income, for only one third of households with an agricultural user. The percentage of households that mainly live from agriculture decreased in the years 2010-2020 from 38.3% to 33.3%. In the case of other households using agricultural holdings, the main sources of income were: contract work (33.1%), old-age and disability pensions (13.2%), non-agricultural activities (7.9%) and other unearned income sources (1 ,9). † In 2010 this was respectively: 29.1%, 11.3%, 9.9% and 2.4%. It should be noted a decrease in the percentage of households earning the main income from non-agricultural activities and an increase in the percentage of households earning the main income from contract work and old-age and disability pensions.
Nationally, the highest percentage of agricultural user households earning the main income from agricultural activities was recorded in Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship (50.3%); Mazowieckie Voivodeship took eighth position.
The results of PSR 2020 showed that in Mazowieckie Voivodeship, the labor input for running agricultural activities on individual farms was 232.9 thousand. AGU1, the vast majority (88.4%) of which were labor inputs from the user and his family – a total of 205.9 thousand. AWE, while the labor commitment of permanent employees is 5.4%. Compared to PSR 2010, the share of this expenditure has decreased by 7.2 percentage points respectively. and increased by 3.7 percentage points.
Compared to 2010, there was an 18.9% decrease in total labor input to agricultural production, including a 25.0% decrease in the labor input of the family labor force and a 2.5-fold increase in the labor input of hired workers.
